WHAT ARE YOUR MATERIALS MADE OF?

Our materials are made of high-quality materials whereby different jewellery have different base as materials. For those plated with gold or rose gold, they are all done with quality finishing as there are more layers of plating are done. Most of the jewellery are hypoallergenic thus it is fine to be worn on sensitive skins.

Please refer to the descriptions of the jewellery for more details.

Our customers often ask what the differences between Gold Vermeil and Gold Plating.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is essentially gold plating on top of a sterling silver base. Gold vermeil is more hypoallergenic due to the sterling silver layer.

If you happen to have allergies to lower base metals like brass, copper or nickel, it’s best to either choose vermeil jewellery. as the gold layer on plated jewellery is usually too thin to cover the lower metal, and if any gold begins to wear down, you might get an allergic reaction.

Gold Plated

In comparison, gold plated jewellery are normally brass-based, or sometimes alloy, such as nickel or zinc-based, depending on the level of costume jewellery. Gold plated jewellery is usually going to have lower quality gold and a thinner gold layer.

Sterling Silver s925

Sterling silver is what's known as a metal alloy. This means that sterling silver is a combination of metals instead of just one single metal (like with pure silver, for example).

Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. This is the reason why Sterling Silver is popularly referred to as 925 Sterling Silver or just 925 Silver.

The reason silver needs to be combined with other metals is that it is very difficult to make great designs with just pure silver, which is very soft and malleable. A bit of hardness has to be introduced, by adding other metals such as copper. That’s why jewellers are capable of making the most intricate and complex designs with 925 Sterling Silver.

HOW DO I care for MY JEWELleRY?

Although our jewellery are made of high quality materials, there are a few measures to take note of to prolong or preserve their glow and outlook for a longer period of time.

As jewellery are delicate and fragile in nature, it is highly recommended to take great care especially on those being worn daily. The measures are as the following:

  • Avoid putting on jewellery when doing house chores or rough work to avoid damage or scratches to the stone / shape
  • Avoid direct contact with chemicals such as perfume, hairspray, bleaches or creams. These chemicals by nature will oxidise and tarnish the polish or the glow of jewellery over a period of exposure to them.
  • To clean, wipe gently with a dry and soft cotton cloth. Avoid excessive rubbing to prevent distorting the shape of the jewellery.
  • To keep, we recommend to store them in the box that comes with your jewellery when it is not being worn. It would be even better to store each jewellery in different soft pouch to avoid scratches among jewellery.

Wear and tear do happen to jewellery too even to solid gold jewellery. It is all about how well you take care of them to prolong its original outlook

Gold-plated Jewellery

Gold plating may eventually go through colour fading over certain period of time which is considered normal.

Under normal circumstances, the colour could last up to 6 months to 1 year. To prolong the beauty of the plated gold colour, kindly minimize contact with excessive sweat, chemical or water contact.

It is highly impossible to regain their glow and shine once the gold or rose gold have worn off.

925 Sterling Silver

Sterling silver jewellery are much more durable because of the added metal alloys to make them last and stay looking the best. However sterling silver can be tarnished and oxidised when exposed to the moisture in the air so do keep it in an airtight container / box when not being worn.

A very interesting tip to prevent your S925 jewellery from tarnishing is by wearing it. The oils and chemicals on your skin protects and prevents it from oxidising.
